Statement regarding Ballet West

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is aware of allegations recently reported in the media relating to Ballet West. QAA has responsibility for reviewing and monitoring educational oversight at Ballet West including their procedures for handling complaints made by students. Our primary concern is for the welfare and safety of students, and we have today written to the Chair of Governors to require further information and inform them of potential action.
We are aware that Ballet West has initiated an independent enquiry, and understand that there is also a police investigation into the allegations that have been made. We will liaise closely with all concerned parties, to ensure satisfactory arrangements are put place to enable students to complete their studies in a way that meets their best interests.
