Grŵp Llandrillo Menai (the Grŵp) has ‘robust arrangements in place for securing academic standards, managing academic quality, and for enhancing the student experience’, according to a QAA review. The review commended the college group for its achievements in several areas including student support and online and distance learning.
The review was undertaken by a team of three independent reviewers, who were appointed by QAA and took place online between 9 and 10 May 2022. Overall, the review panel concluded that the Grŵp meets the requirements of the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) Part 1 on internal quality assurance, and that it meets the relevant baseline regulatory requirements of the Quality Assessment Framework for Wales.
Its commendations include:
- The breadth and depth of student support services available at every campus and for all students, that enables their academic, personal and professional development.
- The comprehensive teaching and learning facilities available to students including the extensive use of technology to support delivery.
- The Grŵp’s strategic approach to its online and distance learning provision that ensures an inclusive student learning experience.
Lawrence Wood, Principal, Coleg Llandrillo & Grŵp Higher Education said: ‘The outcome of this review demonstrates the Grŵp’s commitment to delivering high quality, local, higher education provision supporting economic growth in the region. This is also recognition of the hard work and commitment of our staff to support every individual learner to achieve. Looking forward, we will continue to develop our provision ensuring it meets the needs of the employers and the communities we serve.’
QAA’s report also makes one recommendation, asking the Grŵp to:
formalise and implement training, for established academic staff, in its quality processes to ensure they are applied in a consistent manner.
