Quality Code mapped to OfS conditions and European guidelines

The Quality Assurance Agency has published new documents which map the UK Quality Code for Higher Education to the Office for Students' conditions of registration and to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The former document provides an initial high-level two-way mapping, focusing on the alignment of the Quality Code Principles with OfS conditions of registration. 

The latter document maps the European Standards and Guidelines to both the Principles and Key Practices of the UK Quality Code. ESG expectations are integral to the regulatory frameworks in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and are often referenced in partnership arrangements for UK providers seeking to work with European partners. 

The 2024 edition of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education was published by QAA at the end of June, following an extensive process of engagement and consultation with stakeholders across the sector. It is the first full new iteration of the Code to be published since 2018.
