QAA is keeping members up-to-date on policy developments and initiatives concerning micro-credentials across the UK and worldwide through a new policy briefing. The briefing outlines recent developments across Scotland, Wales and England, in addition to the recent work by UNESCO, towards establishing a universal definition of micro-credentials.
Developments covered in the briefing include Scottish Funding Council plans for a pilot National Micro-Credential Framework for Scotland, funding in Wales to support micro-credential development, and the launch of a Challenge Competition to trial higher education short courses in England.
The resource also provides information on the universal definition of micro-credentials as agreed through a report commissioned by UNESCO earlier this year.
The QAA briefing on micro-credentials is available to QAA Members via the Membership Resources site. QAA Member institutions can sign up to gain access to the site by completing a simple registration form.
QAA also published a Quality Compass resource on micro-credentials earlier this year. This publication is available via QAA’s public website.
