QAA is hosting an in-person strategy summit at The Studio in Birmingham on Friday 22 March.
This event is aimed at colleagues in deputy vice-chancellor, pro vice-chancellor or equivalent roles which include responsibility for quality, standards and the student learning experience.
The summit will include discussions of policy developments affecting quality in UK higher education led by QAA's Chief Executive, Vicki Stott.
We will be joined by Dr Naeema Pasha, co-author of Futureproof Your Career: How to Lead and Succeed in a Changing World, who will invite participants to consider the impacts of artificial intelligence on the labour landscape of 2030, reflecting on how we can most effectively and equitably support students to acquire the skills necessary to navigate new professional practices involving collaborations between humans and machines.
Professor Rebecca Huxley-Binns from the University of Hull will prompt delegates to consider the challenge and opportunities of leading an institution-wide approach to competence-based education.
Dr Camille Kandiko Howson from Imperial College London (ICL) will share the early outcomes from a QAA-funded Collaborative Enhancement Project on Educational Gain - a project led by ICL which involves over a dozen partners from across the sector.
There will also be an opportunity to join QAA's Director of Public Affairs, Eve Alcock, and Lead Policy Officer (England), Helena Vine, to explore their analysis of the learning from TEF 2023 that can be applied across the UK to enhance learning and teaching.
Throughout the event, delegates will have opportunities to share perspectives with peers around how we can ensure we are ready to meet the needs of the students and staff of 2030, considering key topics including employability, Generative Artificial Intelligence, accessibility and inclusion, recording student achievement, and sustainability.
QAA's Director of Membership, Quality Enhancement and Standards, Dr Ailsa Crum said: ‘This energetic and informative session will stimulate thinking as well as providing a welcome opportunity for senior leaders in our QAA Membership community to meet in person.’
