QAA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), which regulates Philippine higher education institutions.
By signing the agreement, QAA has committed to supporting CHED in developing a transnational education (TNE) strategy for the Philippines and continued participation to develop Philippine quality assurance and accreditation activity.
This will build on the strength and breadth of the relationship between QAA and CHED, and the ongoing work they are undertaking together as part of a British Council funded project to create an enabling environment for TNE in the Philippines. This project involves designing a bespoke training programme for CHED representatives and supporting the development of a governance structure, as well as implementation of Philippine TNE law.
The Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Dr J Prospero De Vera III, signed the Memorandum on CHED’s behalf. He was accompanied by Atty Lily Freida Milla (Director, International Affairs Staff, CHED), Ina Isabella F Fanio (Executive Secretary, CHED), and Lotus Postrado (Country Director, British Council Philippines).
QAA’s Chief Executive, Vicki Stott, said: ‘This agreement marks a significant milestone in the growing relationship between QAA and CHED and our shared mission of developing quality assurance mechanisms in the Philippines. I look forward to continuing our ongoing work together and exploring future opportunities of working with CHED.’
