QAA was pleased to host representatives from the Montenegrin Agency for Control and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (ACQAHE) in London earlier this month, formalising our collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
ACQAHE was established in 2017 by the Government of Montenegro. It is the leading state body for quality assurance in higher education and manages the process of evaluating higher education institutions and study programmes in line with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG). ACQAHE’s ambition is to achieve international recognition and competitiveness of the Montenegrin higher education system through its full integration into the European Higher Education Area.
Montenegro is a full member of the Bologna Process and is currently aiming to join the European Union. There are seven higher education institutions in the country, with the University of Montenegro the only public university.
Through the MoU, QAA and ACQAHE agree to work together in several important areas, including reciprocal support with developing contextually appropriate approaches to quality and standards in higher education and compliance with the ESG; training of quality experts; sharing experience regarding the quality assurance and evaluation of higher education institutions; and observing each other’s quality assurance processes.
Eduardo Ramos, QAA’s Director of International & Professional Services, said: 'It was a pleasure to welcome colleagues from ACQAHE in London and sign our MoU. I look to continuing to exchange ideas and further mutual learning between our two agencies.'
