QAA publishes response to OfS strategy consultation

QAA has published its response to the Office for Students' consultation on its new strategy for 2025 to 2030, including its proposals for an integrated quality model and a quality risk register. 

The response draws on QAA’s extensive experience of developing and implementing quality systems. 

QAA welcomes the proposal for greater alignment with the European Standards and Guidelines of the European Higher Education Area and its role in securing greater UK coherence and international trust in the quality of higher education provision in England. 

QAA’s response also welcomes the proposal to create an integrated quality model, and the focus on incentivising continuous improvement, student engagement and greater transparency of the information used to determine regulatory action. It underlines the value of sector investment and active engagement in the creation of such a quality model. 

It also stresses that effective quality assessment should be consistent and based on data, evidence and the processes of peer review – and that the learnings from such methods should support enhancement and share best practice.
