QAA publishes new blog about Collaborative Enhancement Projects

Date: March 25 - 2025
Our new blog about Collaborative Enhancement Projects (CEPs) has been authored by Dr Dom Henri, Senior Lecturer in the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Hull, a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a National Teaching Fellow.

Dom is currently one of the leads on a QAA-funded CEP charting the possibilities of competence-based assessment strategies, in partnership with colleagues from Bishop Burton College, Cardiff University, the University of Chester, the University of Leicester and Newcastle University.

Dom's blog considers the support beyond the funding which QAA offers CEP projects.

"The funding itself is of course very much appreciated – it makes the scope of the work possible – but the opportunities for advice, networking, profile-building, dissemination and impact which these awards bring to our projects are even more valuable," he writes.

This is an aspect of our support for our Members of which our colleagues at QAA are especially proud.

"I guess it's a bit like Dragon's Den," says Sophie Hall, Sector Engagement Manager at QAA. "Smart entrepreneurs walking out of the den with a dragon's investment will make best use of all the advice, knowledge and networks their new sponsor can offer. We at QAA are always very focused on ensuring we provide the support which our Members tell us they need."

On Wednesday 2 April our Member Network Conference in Birmingham will feature a special session giving participants the opportunity to learn more about some of our current CEPs. The session will include presentations from Birmingham City University's Professor Matt O'Leary and De Montfort University's Professor Leanne de Main, who will introduce their work on enhancing learning and teaching through collaborative observation, and on improving student retention and attainment.

QAA funding and support for CEPs is one of the benefits of QAA Membership. We've this week launched our brochures for QAA Membership for the next academic year which are available for each nation here.
