QAA publishes Country Report on Brazil

Date: September 16 - 2024

We have published the latest in our series of Country Reports for QAA International Members. Our new report focuses on the contexts and conditions of higher education in Brazil - the world's fifth largest country by area and seventh largest by population.

Since 2014, higher education in Brazil has been shaped by the country's National Education Plan, which has focused on growth and quality, and which seeks to increase student numbers in higher education by enhancing the nation's educational environments.

The report looks at the functions and powers of Brazil's Ministry of Education, its four key advisory bodies and its regulatory structures. It also details the types of public and private providers which make up the country's higher education landscape, and their total numbers of student enrolments.

It goes on to explore the Brazilian HE's qualification structure, fees arrangements, admissions criteria, language requirements, and quality assurance mechanisms - and concludes by examining the complex situation of UK TNE in Brazil and the trends in the international mobility of students from Brazil to the UK.

The report is part of QAA's series of Country and Territory Reports, offering insights for QAA International Insights Members. We publish these reports to give universities and colleges in the UK contextual information about key markets overseas, to help them develop their international operations and to enhance their TNE capabilities.
