QAA has published the latest in our series of Country Reports for our International Insights Members. Our new report focuses on the contexts and conditions of higher education in the South Asian nation of Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
In 2018, Bangladesh's University Grants Commission published its Strategic Plan for Higher Education. Designed to promote economic growth, and scheduled to be completed by 2030, this plan set out a vision to improve the quality of higher education in Bangladesh and to enhance graduates’ skills and digital competencies.
There are today 55 public universities and over 100 private ones in Bangladesh, as well as more than 2,250 tertiary-level colleges affiliated to the National University of Bangladesh.
Our report explores the country's constitutional, administrative and educational structures, as well as its systems for the management, oversight and funding of higher education. It also details providers' admissions policies and quality assurance processes, and student numbers, demographics and pass rates.
It looks at opportunities for UK TNE in Bangladesh, and the growing international mobility of Bangladeshi students and their key destinations, with the latest data showing more than 6,500 choosing to study in the UK.
The report is part of QAA's series of Country and Territory Reports, offering insights for QAA International Insights Members. We publish these reports to give universities and colleges in the UK contextual information about strong and growing markets overseas, to help them develop their international operations and enhance their TNE capabilities.
