QAA has published a new country guide for members of its QE-TNE Scheme.
Commissioned by Universities UK and GuildHE, this Scheme explores and promotes quality enhancement activity in transnational education on a country-by-country basis.
Our latest report takes a deep dive into higher education activities in Cyprus, a relatively small nation which joined the European Union in 2004 and which has a population slightly in excess of 1.26 million.
Despite its size, the country's relatively low cost of living, pleasant climate and reputation for high-quality education, has led the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education to set out a strategy to support ambitions for the nation to become a regional and global centre of excellence in higher education.
Cyprus has three public universities, five further public institutions of higher education and nine private universities. The majority of higher education students in Cyprus study at private institutions, but Cypriot students represent only about 44% of the country's total student population.
Our country guide details the most popular HE disciplines taught in Cyprus, and explores the country's quality arrangements and frameworks, its admissions processes and its fee structures, as well as the mobility of Cypriot students to the UK.
The report also looks at transnational education in Cyprus, a country which hosts the third largest population of UK-TNE students in the European Union - with more than 20 British providers active in this market responsible in total for more than 20% of local higher education provision.
