QAA launches International Membership programme

Date: December 16 - 2021

International higher education institutions can tap into QAA’s global expertise through a new International Membership programme launched today. This new service has been developed in QAA’s capacity of supporting the development of higher education internationally, including activity supporting QAA Members and collaborating with international partners.

Building on our existing Membership service for UK higher education institutions, we have launched International Membership to support international institutions with safeguarding academic standards and enhancing the quality of the student learning experience, as well as building connections with the UK. The package will be available to all institutions who have achieved QAA’s International Quality Review accreditation.

International Membership will provide access to a range of exclusive quality enhancement resources, designed to support institutions in improving their own provision, which will be available to all staff and students in member institutions. International Members will also have access to exclusive events, workshops, briefings and training that outline developments and best practice in all aspects of international quality assurance.

Through membership, institutions can also access QAA’s International Member Network, providing a space where members can discuss the latest developments in international quality assurance and enhancement, and network with other higher education practitioners. QAA Full International Members will also be able to use the QAA International Member Badge.

Institutions who do not hold International Quality Review accreditation but are recognised by their local quality agency will have access to our International Associate Membership package which will be launched in early 2022.

QAA’s Chief Executive, Vicki Stott said: ‘Collaboration and partnership with global higher education institutions is central to the success of UK higher education. Building upon our existing international work, International Membership provides us with the opportunity to connect the UK sector with global institutions, deepening knowledge, trust and confidence in UK higher education for international partners, and providing unique opportunities for UK providers to gain insights into international higher education practice. This will in turn support our UK Members in developing new global partnerships.’
