A review of Coleg Gwent by QAA has expressed confidence that academic standards are reliable, meet UK requirements, and are reasonably comparable with standards set and achieved in other providers in the UK.
The review also expressed confidence that the quality of the student academic experience at Coleg Gwent meets relevant baseline regulatory requirements.
The review team identified no specific areas for development or improvement.
The review visit took place 22-23 November 2023 and was conducted by a team of three independent reviewers appointed by QAA.
Scheduled to a standard four-year-cycle, the review provides the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) with an expert judgement about the readiness of the provider to continue to operate within the higher education sector.
Coleg Gwent is one of the largest further education colleges in Wales operating from five main campuses at Newport, Torfaen, Usk, Crosskeys and Ebbw Vale. The College provides a comprehensive range of general and vocational education and training programmes across all subject sector areas from Entry to Level 6 to 24,000 students.
Guy Lacey, Principal and Chief Executive of Coleg Gwent, said: 'The results of the QAA review are fantastic news for the College and our higher education team. We take pride in our provision and the partnerships we've forged to deliver top quality degrees and other higher education qualifications that are affordable and flexible. Our staff have worked hard to give our learners the best, industry standard teaching, guidance and support to achieve their goals. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome.'
