Following the successful launch of our Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Guidance earlier this year, QAA and Advance HE have shared a suite of new practice guides outlining ESD practice across UK higher education.
The guides illustrate how higher education institutions have incorporated ESD within their curriculum across a variety of disciplines and diverse institutional contexts.
These resources complement the ESD Guidance published in May, which was developed through collaboration with experts representing academic, business and student communities. Our ESD resources aim to support all students to acquire the skills necessary to develop values and take action to transition towards a sustainable future.
Dr Ailsa Crum, QAA’s Director of Membership, Quality Enhancement and Standards said: ‘These practice guides demonstrate the innovative approaches that higher education institutions have taken to equip their students with a practical understanding of sustainable development in the context of their discipline. They illustrate that a wide variety of approaches can be taken and we look forward to continuing to work with our members in supporting sustainable development.’
These new practice guides - alongside the original ESD Guidance, a Student Resource and a further set of case studies - are available to QAA Members via our Membership Resources site. Staff and students from QAA member institutions can sign up for the site via our registration form.
QAA will be publishing additional resources on Education for Sustainable Development, aimed at a student audience later this membership year.
