Delegates agreed that one of the stand-out moments of our Quality Insights conference last month was Professor Phillip Dawson's extraordinary, witty, insightful and impactful keynote presentation, which explored how we might best approach the processes of assessment in the age of generative artificial intelligence.
Professor Dawson argued that we need to do more than develop discursive interventions in order to address the challenges posed by AI to the integrity, value and relevance of our assessment processes. He proposed instead that we must introduce structural changes to the way we assess and understand our students' learning.
For those who missed it at the conference – or indeed who'd like to hear it again – his presentation is now available as a QAA podcast. It's one you really don't want to miss.
But, of course, you most probably don't want to miss any of them. All of our QAA podcasts can be found on Buzzsprout and other popular streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music – where you can explore our full catalogue of lively conversations with colleagues from across our sector – whose recent topics have included approaches to awarding gaps, academic integrity, evaluation, competence-based education, work-based learning, embedding employability, the TEF, student engagement and the Quality Code – as well as a fascinating look forward to 2025 with our Chief Executive Vicki Stott in conversation with the great Paul Greatrix.
