New Country Report: Republic of India
Date: | March 31 - 2021 |
---|
QAA has today published its Country Report on India. This report is part of a series of Country Reports that QAA regularly produces to offer higher education providers who are International Insights Members an overview of the higher education and regulatory landscape of key countries for UK transnational education (TNE). The reports offer high-level information and intelligence about regulations, challenges, and opportunities, signposting to sources of further information.
Since the passing of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), the Indian higher education sector has been undergoing significant change. The report will help QAA’s International Insights Members understand these changes in the context of wider Indian society by analysing:
- the Indian constitutional and government structures
- the higher education landscape
- the National Education Policy
- higher education funding
- the regulatory framework and higher education agencies
- UK transnational education in India
- international student statistics.
We will provide further bulletins and updates in relation to the development and implementation of the NEP as it progresses.
In producing Country Reports for International Insights Members, QAA seeks to liaise with local regulators and quality assurance agencies, and other UK-sector bodies with relevant expertise. We would particularly like to thank Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for their invaluable support in developing this report.
Following publication of the report, on 28 April we will be hosting a webinar for QAA International Insights Members to consider current developments across Indian higher education and provide the opportunity to ask any questions. We will be joined by Dr Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Ms Rittika Parruck, Assistant Director Programmes North India at British Council India.
Registration for the webinar is available on our event booking site.
