An expert panel discusses current perspectives on access and participation in our latest panel discussion as part of the ‘QAA at 25’ series.
Levelling up through Access features perspectives from staff and students with experience of the Access to HE Diploma answering questions on the personal and professional impact of the Diploma, its role as a lynchpin for social mobility, and the future potential of the Diploma to contribute towards the government’s ‘Levelling Up’ agenda.
Chaired by QAA’s Access to HE Manager Julie Mizon, the panel features:
- Flóra Raffai, Chief Executive, Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA)
- Jayne Taylor, Head of Student Recruitment and Access Development, Sheffield Hallam University
- Sally Illey, Cross College Coordinator for Access to HE, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College
- Laura Thatcher, Access to HE student, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College
- Zoë Chapman, former Access to HE student and Executive Director, Training, Education and Consultancy Hub
Since QAA assumed responsibility for the recognition and quality assurance of the Access to HE Diploma in 1997, over 934,000 students have registered on Access to HE qualifications and over 375,000 have entered higher education. Managing the scheme for the recognition and quality assurance of Access to HE is a pivotal aspect of QAA’s work and we are proud to play a significant role in supporting access and participation in higher education for adult learners.
The Levelling up through Access panel discussion is available on the Access to HE website. More information on the Access to HE Diploma can be found on the QAA website.
QAA’s 25th Anniversary series is delivered in our capacity as a membership organisation.
