Latest set of Subject Benchmark Statements for review - your chance to get involved

Date: December 9 - 2024

QAA is inviting expressions of interest from academic communities to join the Subject Advisory Groups for the review of six Subject Benchmark Statements.

QAA leads the development of Subject Benchmark Statements and reviews them on a cyclical basis to ensure they are current and as useful as possible for discipline communities, in order to fulfill a range of purposes, such as securing academic standards in course design and review.

Over the past three years, we have reviewed 40 Statements, with an additional 8 currently being reviewed.

In 2025-26, we will be reviewing the Subject Benchmark Statements for the following disciplines:

  • Architecture
  • Art and Design
  • History of Art, Architecture and Design
  • Social Work
  • Sociology
  • Social Policy.

We are inviting expressions of interest to join these advisory groups.

Expressions of interest are invited from the academic community, employers, professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs), and students.

Academic and student representatives will only be drawn from higher education providers who are QAA Members. A major benefit of being a QAA Member is the opportunity to shape and inform our policies, standards and sector benchmarks, of which Subject Benchmark Statements are a key aspect.

More information on how to submit an expression of interest is available on our expressions of interest web page.

The deadline for submissions is midday on Friday 10 January 2025.
