Kuwait International Law School (KILAW) has successfully completed the renewal of its International Quality Review (IQR) and been awarded global quality accreditation by QAA.
IQR is a rigorous process which benchmarks global higher education institutions against international quality assurance standards set out in Part 1 of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
The review was performed between 7 and 9 February 2023 by three independent reviewers appointed by QAA. In making their conclusions, the review team confirmed that the University meets all 10 of the internal quality assurance standards in the ESG.
QAA's review team identified the following areas of particularly good practice at Kuwait International Law School:
- support for staff research, which includes staff contribution to the KILAW annual international conference and the KILAW research
- high level of staff commitment, high quality of planning, and clear dedication to students’ success within the Students' Development and Competitions Department.
Professor Mohammad AlMoqatei, President of Kuwait International Law School said: 'KILAW is very proud to be the first Middle East and Arab University to achieve such rigorous accreditation and be awarded the global quality accreditation by QAA for five years after completing the International Quality Review (IQR). Quality Assurance standards and processes are a central backbone for KILAW. KILAW also appreciates the dedication of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) as a leading body in safeguarding quality standards.'
Chris Bland, QAA’s Head of Accreditation and Consultancy, said: 'QAA would like to congratulate Kuwait International Law School on completing its International Quality Review and renewing its global quality accreditation. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with our colleagues in Kuwait, and we look forward to collaborating with them in future.'
Kuwait International Law School’s IQR accreditation will be valid for five years, subject to a satisfactory mid-cycle review. Kuwait International can now display QAA’s Accreditation Badge, showing that their quality assurance processes are comparable with international best practice.
By securing global accreditation from QAA, international institutions can clearly spotlight their quality standards internationally, and more easily start dialogues with institutions outside their own country.
