Higher education has a key role to play in equipping students and staff with the knowledge and skills to contribute towards a more sustainable future - QAA’s latest video outlines what Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) looks like within the higher education sector.
It also suggests how students can support this work within their own institutions, linking to other useful sources of information.
The video was launched at QAA’s Evolving Student Engagement Conference and provides a taster of ESD and how students can encourage their institutions to progress the sustainability agenda.
Dr Ailsa Crum, QAA’s Director of Membership, Quality Enhancement and Standards said: ‘We know that students are passionate about playing an active role in the protection of the planet, and this video provides useful information on how they can take action within their institutions, in partnership with the staff community.’
It sits alongside other QAA resources such as our Starting the Conversation guide for students around ways of discussing education for sustainable development with teaching staff and students’ unions. It also builds upon our Education for Sustainable Development guidance, which was produced by QAA and Advance HE in May 2021.
In addition, QAA is supporting four Collaborative Enhancement Projects focused on enabling our members to work together to enhance education for sustainable development practice.
