ANQA MoU signing

Date: November 5 - 2024

QAA has formalised its relationship with Armenia’s National Centre for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation (ANQA) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The online signing ceremony took place as part of the British Council’s ‘Internationalising Higher Education in Armenia’ event.

The Republic of Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports lists the internationalisation of its higher education system and the enhancement of its quality as key objectives of its higher education reform agenda.

The forum provided key insights into the transnational education (TNE) landscape in Armenia through sharing the outcomes of the British Council’s TNE Mapping research project. It also featured a session by QAA on the International Quality Review (IQR) process as an alternative pathway for Armenian institutions to quality-assure their programmes.

ANQA is an independent organisation founded by the Republic of Armenia’s government in 2008 with the goal of supporting tertiary-level institutions to create a quality culture in accordance with Armenian legislation.

The MoU commits QAA and ANQA to work together to build staff capacity, observe each other’s review activities, and explore opportunities for joint working in matters of international accreditation and higher education review work.

QAA’s Chief Executive Vicki Stott said: “I’m delighted to sign this MoU with ANQA. I'm looking forward to working closely with ANQA colleagues to share insights and information, and to enhance opportunities for the higher education sectors in both our countries.”
