Independent Student Board Member

Salary: N/A
Closing date: 30/08/2024

QAA is looking to appoint one Independent Student Member to its QAA Board of Directors, who will also act as Co-Chair of the Student Strategic Advisory Committee (SSAC) and be a member of the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is an independent charity working to benefit students and tertiary education, and one of the world's experts in quality assurance. As the scale, shape, structure and purpose of learning provision are changing in the UK and around the world, QAA safeguards standards and supports the improvement of quality for students - whether they study at a university or college in the UK, or in any other location worldwide where courses lead to UK higher education qualifications.

QAA also has a consultative and advisory role, working at government level through to individual organisations. We play a leading role in international development in quality assurance, through membership of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.

QAA is proud of its record of putting students at the centre of our work, including in our governance. We encourage applications from individuals who will engage with our vision while bringing honest challenge, and who, like other Board members, can act as ambassadors for QAA. The role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to gain a position of substantial responsibility. It will involve engagement with senior leaders and decision making affecting the sector.

To be eligible for this role you must at the time of your appointment be at least one of: a registered undergraduate or postgraduate student for a course leading to an award of a higher education institution; an elected student officer of a students’ union; or an elected student officer of a student representative organisation.
