Scans of current policy and practice for the support of postgraduates who teach (PGWT)

Teaching can be an important part of the PGR student experience. It allows early career academics the chance to develop a key skill, and can also have a positive impact on the students they teach. To ensure that their teaching, as well as the student experience, is the right quality, PGWT need support from their institution. We explored this topic, and have produced a film and three valuable resources for both PGWT and their institutions.

A film about PGWT covering a range of institutions and academic disciplines. The film is for PGWT and staff in institutions who support them.
Scan of policy and practice
We set up a project team to examine existing policies and strategies to support PGWT. All institutions in Scotland took part in the project. Institutions from other parts of the UK, along with North America, Asia, Africa and Australasia, were also included.
The project team included members from the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. They discuss their experiences of the project in the blog post Teaching Matters.
Statement of expectations
The findings from the scan project informed the Statement of Expectations. We produced this to support PGWT.
