About

On 1 September 2024, QAA began undertaking quality assurance activities on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Our work for the NMC includes:

  • providing assurance to the NMC that nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education meets their standards
  • conducting approval and monitoring activities of the individual programmes that lead to students being able to register with the NMC
  • conducting other analysis to provide insight to the NMC on matters related to quality and standards in education for which they have regulatory responsibility
  • quality assurance of the NMC standards of education and training for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.

This website includes key information for institutions, visitors and students about our role in the quality assurance process and the activities involved, as well as links to relevant information on the NMC website.
