Educational Oversight Review (EOR) is a new review method proposed to replace the current four separate methods for review and monitoring of 'alternative providers' - private providers of higher education courses in the UK that do not receive direct annual public funding from any UK higher education funding or regulatory body.

The proposed method has been designed to unify divergent practices and update language and processes to better reflect contemporary higher education provision in the UK.

This consultation seeks views regarding the proposed new review method and will be of interest to providers of higher and further education, their representative bodies, other sector bodies, government departments and students. We would particularly encourage comments from providers that are subject to review with QAA under the current methods.

How to respond

The EOR review method is in consultation for six weeks.

You can read about the proposals in the consultation document below together with the Guidance for Providers handbook. Please submit your responses via our online survey. A Microsoft Word version of the consultation questions is also provided for those who would like to prepare their answers before submitting the online survey.

The consultation will close at on Tuesday 7 May 2024 at 5pm.

Next steps

Following the conclusion of the consultation, we will consider all responses. We will then make changes to our proposals where we consider there is a clear reason to do so. We intend to publish our consultation response and a final provider guidance document in June 2024.
