safeguarding standards and improving the quality of UK higher education

Institution reports

University grounds

Our institution reports help people make a choice about where to study.

They help colleges and universities set up systems to improve the learning opportunities they offer students.

They also allow institutions to share good practice across the higher education sector.

QAA reports on the quality and standards of UK higher education

How we review

We use different review methods to check on the quality and standards of higher education, depending on the type of provider and their location in the UK, and employ reviewers from across the higher education sector.

Higher Education Review

Our newest method, due to launch in the 2013-14 academic year, is called Higher Education Review and will look at higher education providers in England and Northern Ireland.

Further information about Higher Education Review and our planned programme of reviews

We check how UK universities and colleges maintain the standard of their higher education provision. We report on how they meet their responsibilities, identify good practice and make recommendations for improvement.

At present, QAA does not review MOOCs. For more information, please see our Statement on Massive Open Online Courses.
